Discussions provide an opportunity for teachers and students to Speak Out. Do remember that you are representing not only yourself, but also your school and country.
There is never a good time for a disaster, nor a good place for one to happen. Often the poor are the worst hit and least able to recover and rebuild. From the most recent tragedy in Japan to fires and floods in Australia, quakes in New Zealand, South America, Hurricanes like Katrina and devastation from recent USA tornados, disaster seems to strike somewhere every day.
Target= M & S
Use your best writing, no slang. This is not IM, but a discussion. Not every person will be a native English speaker.
Disagree courteously.
Never insult others.
Avoid meaningless comments like "me too" or "I agree", instead add meaningful reasons why!
Consider this:
Does the media cover some stories over an over and not others?
Has the Japan disaster caused us to rethink Nuclear Power Plants?
What issues face the residents of New Orleans now - 5 years after Katrina?
Are some forest meant to burn? Should we prepare for controlled burning?
Discussion target groups: Each discussion can invite as many participant target groups as desired.
T - teachers only
S - secondary (teens) only
M - middle (10-13) only
E - elementary (up to 10)
A - ALL - discussion invites everyone to participate
